The goal of this section is to provide guidance on the design, performance, and analysis requirements of the City of Bismarck regarding Post-Construction Peak Discharge Compliance.

Design storm return periods (years)
2-year, 5-year, 10-year, 100-year

Post-Construction runoff resulting from the 2-, 5-, 10-, and 100-year 24-hour rainfall events shall not exceed the runoff rate of the existing conditions.

Water quality volume method
Water quality volume (Vwq) determined per Reference 5-2; new development uses prescriptive BMP sizing (Reference 5-1); redevelopment and retrofit must treat the first 0.5 inches of runoff from impervious areas, or demonstrate 80% TSS removal on an average annual basis via an approved alternative BMP method.

Design BMPs to treat the first 0.5 inches of runoff from impervious areas. 80% Total Suspended Solids (TSS) removal on an average annual basis shall be achieved.
